Design and structure your survey questions using the builder to capture structured data and feedback.

Updated over 2 months ago

I. Accessing the Form Builder

  1. Navigate to the Surveys module in your Platform.

  2. Locate the specific survey you wish to design in the survey list.

  3. Click the Actions (three dots) icon on the far right of the survey entry and select Edit Form.

  4. Once inside the survey configuration area, click the Form Builder tab.

II. Form Configuration Tabs

The survey interface is organized into several sub-tabs located above the main canvas. You will use these to build and refine your form:

  • Designer: The primary workspace for adding and arranging questions.

  • Preview: A live tool to confirm the final appearance and functionality for respondents before launch.

  • Logic: The area to create dynamic forms by setting up conditions, such as showing or hiding questions based on previous answers.

  • Code Editor: An advanced tool for direct control over the form’s underlying structure for highly specific customizations.

  • Translations: A feature to provide multi-language support for your survey questions to reach a broader audience.

III. Designing Your Survey

The Designer tab allows you to create different question types onto your canvas.

A. Field Types Available

The left menu offers various categories to help you structure your data collection:

Category

Field Types Available

Allows respondents to upload documents or select images as answers.

Structure & Custom

Groups related questions together or adds custom instructional content and formatting.

B. Customization Methods

After adding a question, you can fine-tune its behavior using two methods:

  1. Quick Edits: Edit directly within the question box on the canvas to change titles or toggle the Required switch.

  2. Advanced Customization Panel: Use the panel on the right to access deeper settings, such as General visibility, Validation rules for correct data entry, and a Timer for specific pages.

IV. Setting Conditional Logic

The Logic Tab allows you to create a dynamic experience by showing specific questions only when a certain field is selected. This ensures respondents only see fields relevant to their previous answers.

How to Add Conditional Logic:

  1. Add New Rule: Click the Add New Rule button in the Logic tab.

  2. Set the "If" Condition: Select the question and the specific answer that will trigger the action (e.g., "If Question 1 Equals Option A").

  3. Set the "Then" Action: Select the action to take, such as showing a hidden follow-up question.

  4. Done: Click Done to save the rule and use the Preview Tab to test it.

V. Publishing and Sharing

Once your design is complete, manage the survey's availability from the main list.

  • Access Control: Use the Close/Open toggle to manage whether respondents can currently access the form.

  • Sharing:: Click the Copy URL button to obtain a direct link for sharing with your audience.
