Building Your Evaluation Form

Step-by-step guide to creating evaluation forms that help judges review and score submissions.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

I. Accessing the Evaluation Form Builder

The Evaluation Form is configured within the relevant round tab.

  1. Access the Round: Navigate to your Program and click on the First Round tab.

  2. Select the Tab: Click on the "Evaluation Form" tab, located next to the "Submission Form" tab.

  3. Select Track: If you are using Submission Tracks, ensure you select the correct Track from the drop-down menu at the top to build the corresponding evaluation form.

Track Management Notes:

  • You can choose to use a single evaluation form across multiple tracks or create a separate, tailored evaluation form for each track.

  • If you have multiple submission tracks, make sure you’ve selected the correct track from the drop-down menu at the top before you begin creating the evaluation form.

II. Designing the Evaluation Form (Designer Tab)

The Designer tab for evaluation works similarly to the submission form, but the questions you create here are only visible to your assigned judges.

A. Evaluation Fields (Questions and Criteria)

The left menu offers a variety of question types. You can add questions by selecting a type or by clicking Add a Question in the center.

Rating Slider

Provides a visual slider for judges to assign a precise numerical score.

Other Fields (Note: These fields cannot affect the evaluation score)

Single-line Input, Long Text, etc.

B. Customizing Form Structure

After adding the evaluation fields, you have two option to customize your form:

1. Quick Edits (In the Form Builder)

Use the question box itself for immediate changes:

  • Edit Content: Edit the title, description, and options directly within the box.

  • Duplicate: Quickly copy the question using the duplicate function.

  • Toggle Mandatory: Use the star icon to quickly make the criterion mandatory for judges.

2. Advanced Customization

Use the the detailed editor on the right for more more advanced settings:

  • General

  • Logo

  • Navigation

  • Question

  • Pages

  • Logic

  • Data

  • Validation

  • Form Complete

  • Timer

III. Refining the Evaluation Form

After adding fields and customizing your form, you can optimize your form's functionality and performance further through the following tabs:

  1. Preview Tab: Shows a live preview of your evaluation form. Use this tool frequently to check how each question appears to judges before going live.

  2. Logic Tab (Conditional Logic): Used to create dynamic forms that guide judge behavior based on their input.

How to Implement: Click Add New Rule, select the criteria you want to show or hide, and define the condition.

Example: If a judge gives a low score, a follow-up question like “What is the main reason for this rating?” can automatically appear, ensuring specific feedback is collected.

3. Code Editor Tab: This tool is available for advanced users who require direct control over the form's underlying code for specialized structural or appearance changes.

4. Translations Tab: Allows you to offer translations for all questions and criteria in your form, making your evaluation accessible to more judges.

What's Next?

You have now built and defined the entire submission and evaluation process for your First Round. You can expand your selection and evaluation process by adding more rounds.
